Putin says Russia has no future without digital economy
MOSCOW, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russia has no future without the digital economy, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday during the Direct Line Q&A session.
“We won’t be able to move to the next technological level without the digital economy, and the Russian economy, meaning the country, has no future without this switch to the technological level. That’s why it’s task number one in the economy that we should tackle,” Putin said.
The country has a strong mathematical school, and programming develops actively. “We should only ensure a market for our programmers, and there are many good technological capacities. We’ll be able to do it,” the president said.
Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said earlier in June that Putin discussed technologies and the digital economy with some members of parliament. The president is obsessed with the topic and understands that the gap and significant growth rates are grounded on the digital economy and technological leadership, as Shuvalov said.
